This partnership will help to connect the Lehigh Valley with news from the Capitol.

Bethlehem, PA. – July 9, 2020 – Lehigh Valley Public Media has teamed up with Spotlight PA, the largest newsroom in Pennsylvania dedicated to holding the Pennsylvania state government to account. Through interviews between Spotlight PA journalists and Reporter Corps® member Hayden Mitman, Lehigh Valley Public Media supports bringing news from our state capitol directly to the Lehigh Valley community.

“Now more than ever, we need journalists in our state capital holding our elected officials and wider government accountable for its actions,” said Christopher Baxter, founding editor of Spotlight PA.

“Having lived for several years in the Lehigh Valley, I’m thrilled to be able to provide this great journalism to the region to better inform, connect and empower residents.”

These four to five minute segments will air on PBS39 News Tonight on Tuesdays and Thursdays at 6:30 p.m. and 11 p.m. They will cover topics such as how new legislation will impact police use-of-force and breaking down PA’s murky business waiver program.

“We have 44 newsroom partnerships so far, but this will be the first public television partnership we’ve had, so we are pioneering this from the ground up. We hope for a long and expanding partnership with Lehigh Valley Public Media.”
