The colorful van delivers summer STEM activities to thousands of families across the Lehigh Valley

Bethlehem, PA. – July 16, 2020 – Approximately 5,000 families will be recipients of PBS39’s “Smart Sacks” which contain books as well as educational STEM activities; all in an effort to give families in need a chance at continued summer learning. The Education Explorer, a flashy vandecked out with PBS’s most popular children’s characters, will act as a fun delivery vehicle.

This initiative was made possible through a partnership with Lehigh Valley Intermediate Units, their community school coordinators and access to IUs’ school lunch sites, where distribution from the Education Explorer will take place.

“Because of the help and support of our Intermediate Units and local districts, we are able to deliver tangible, educational materials to our communities in the safest and most effective way possible,” said Cate Reifsnyder, Director of Education.

The Education Explorer begins its adventure this week, and will continue making stops until all supplies are delivered.
