ROCA PROMOTED TO ASSISTANT CHIEF



 

Allentown Police Captain Charles Roca is being promoted to Assistant Chief of Police – Operations replacing retired Assistant Chief Stephen Vangelo.

Assistant Chief Roca graduated from Dieruff High School and holds a Bachelor of Science in Criminal Justice from King’s College in Wilkes-Barre. He was hired in January 2002 and was promoted to sergeant in April 2012, to lieutenant in April 2016 and to captain in April 2018.

“The selection of Charles Roca as the new Assistant Chief of Police – Operations is an integral part of the long-term plan for the restructuring of the Allentown Police Department, said Chief Glenn Granitz, Jr. “In addition to Assistant Chief William Lake and our current captains, we will be focused on continuity of leadership and assuring our officers have the resources they need to serve our residents. Assistant Chief Roca shares my commitment to the community and has served the City of Allentown in various investigative, patrol and supervisory positions. I am excited for the future of the Allentown Police Department’s patrol and investigative units under the direction of Assistant Chief Roca.”

Assistant Chief Roca has received three commendations for merit.

 

His promotion goes into effect this weekend.
