Five city of Allentown departments and bureaus are proving to Sheridan Elementary School third graders that Together Everyone Achieves More (TEAM).

The departments of Parks & Recreation and Fire, and the EMS, Health, and Recycling & Solid Waste bureaus are teaming-up with backpack donations from Chris Sterner and TCC Store #4832 at the Hamilton Crossing in Trexlertown to benefit third graders at the school.

The backpacks full of school supplies including a notebook, lined paper, folder, ruler, glue stick, pencils and crayons are also being stuffed with information from the city bureaus.

Parks and Recreation is emphasizing environmental science and S.T.E.M. related curriculum with activity kits while also continuing to push the importance of water safety by providing water safety activities. The Health Bureau added vaccination workbooks and child safety kits. The Fire Department and EMS continue the lifesaving trend with fire safety and CPR resources. Additionally, the Bureau of Recycling and Solid Waste provided pencils and various educational information about the importance of recycling.

With the help of Friends of the Allentown Parks various educational resources and books were added to the backpacks covering topics such as birds, bats, and trees.

The backpacks full of supplies and resources will be distributed to two third grade classrooms at Sheridan Elementary prior to the start of the school year.

The Allentown School District is conducting a virtual campus for the first quarter of the school year.  Classes begin on Tuesday, September 8.
