Lamont McClure, Director of DCED Tina Smith, Director of DHS Susan Wandalowski and LANTA Executive Director Owen O’Neil held a press conference on Tuesday, February 16th to announce an agreement between the County of Northampton and LANTA. Senior residents of Northampton County, who are registered with LANTA’s Share Ride for Seniors Program, can get a free door-to-door trip to and from appointments to receive the COVID-19 vaccine.

Approximately 8,800 seniors in Northampton County already use the Share Ride for Seniors Program. Anyone who would like to register may do so by calling LANTA at 1-888-253-8333, Monday through Sunday from 8:00AM – 4:30PM.

Regular PennDOT grant funds will cover 85% of the trip cost. The County of Northampton will pay the remainder with funds from Area Agency on Aging.

“We thank LANTA for its participation in this program,” says Lamont McClure. “Our older residents have borne the brunt of this pandemic. This agreement will help remove any transportation issues that might prevent a senior from being able to access the vaccine.”
