Easton Promise Neighborhood to hold first Annual Meeting January 13

EASTON PROMISE NEIGHBORHOOD

TO HOLD INAUGURAL STATE OF EPN ADDRESS

WEDNESDAY JANUARY 13th AT NURTURE NATURE CENTER

Community event will feature release of recent neighborhood survey results in West Ward.

WHAT:                   Easton Promise Neighborhood will host its first State of the EPN event next Wednesday evening. Executive Director Dr. Yamil Sanchez Rivera will discuss the organization’s 2015 achievements and its plans for 2016.

EPN Manager Ammar Sharif and PNLV Data Manager Ewuradjoa Dawson-Amoah will share with attendees the findings of this past summer’s EPN Resident Survey. The door-to-door survey captured information about housing, education, healthcare, and other important quality of life issues affecting West Ward neighborhood residents. The Easton Promise Neighborhood is located in Census tract 142 and is bordered by 15th St., 10th St., Lehigh Drive, and Chidsey St.

The Resident Survey also gave residents the opportunity to talk to EPN staff about the interests and concerns they have for the neighborhood, and provided the organization with the information it needs to determine how best to assist residents moving forward.

Survey result highlights include:

  • 74.6% of EPN residents have someone in the neighborhood they can turn to in case of emergency
  • 48.3% of EPN households have no children
  • 58% of residents believe drug selling is an issue in the neighborhood
  • 92% survey return rate for our sample goal of 800 households and 43.9% return rate for the census tract

This free event is open to the general public to attend. Light refreshments will be served. Attendees will also be entered into a raffle to win donated prizes, including two children’s bicycles, local restaurant gift certificates, and more.
