COPS MEET BLOCK BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT IN ALLENTOWN

The first ever Cops Meet Block Basketball Tournament is coming to Allentown this weekend at Cedar Creek Park.  The event, which will be held from 3:00 to 5:00 p.m. on Sunday, October 5th, will pit local youth against Police Officers to promote positive interaction with Law Enforcement and young adults.  Allentown Mayor Ed Pawlowski and Police Chief Joel Fitzgerald will be special guests.

Several Police Departments around the country have received positive feedback from the community for blocking off streets in high crime rate neighborhoods, and holding impromptu basketball games.   Police officers believe the interaction helps to build trust and grow relationships within the community, which lowers the crime rate.

Free Hot Dogs and Beverages will be served.
