WHEN:          Saturday, February 20, 2016 from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m.

Military veterans of Team Rubicon will be volunteering with Habitat for Humanity of the Lehigh Valley on Saturday, February 20th to rehabilitate a Habitat house in Allentown for a deserving, low-income family. Team Rubicon helps veterans find a renewed sense of purpose—vital as many return to civilian life after more than a decade of war. The organization unites the skills and experiences of military veterans with first responders to rapidly deploy emergency response teams. In addition to disaster relief projects, Team Rubicon volunteers also work on proactive projects, as they often do with Habitat for Humanity. Team Rubicon will be working on interior demolition work at 330 N 9th Street in Allentown

This house is located in Olde Allentown and was originally built in the 1880’s as a single family home. It was converted into three apartment units several decades ago. This house is one of four that Habitat has purchased from the city in Olde Allentown with the aim of restoring them back to life as single family homes. Once a deserving family is selected for this home, the future Habitat homeowners will help build their own homes alongside volunteers and pay an affordable mortgage. With Team Rubicon’s help, Habitat homeowners achieve the strength, stability and independence they need to build a better life for themselves and their families.
