PBS39 to Premiere ‘Wyomissing: An American Dream’

Special screening and panel discussion taking place at Reading Public Museum’s Neag Planetarium on Wed., May 4.
BETHLEHEM, Pa. — Mar. 30, 2016 PBS39 is excited to announce Wyomissing: An American Dream, a new documentary that knits together three themes: community, family and industry.

A PBS39 original production, Wyomissing: An American Dream shares the stories of the borough’s founding fathers, Ferdinand Thun and Henry Janssen. The German immigrants came to Berks County in the 1890’s and formed a textile company that became a legend called Wyomissing Industries.

PBS39 will host a special screening and panel discussion of the production at the Neag Planetarium at the Reading Public Museum on Wed., May 4th from 3 to 5 p.m.

“PBS39 maintains a commitment to honor the people and stories that have shaped our communities,” said Teri Haddad, EdD, VP, Production & Education at PBS39. “Wyomissing: An American Dream honors the story of a community that flourished due to the hard work of Mr. Thun and Mr. Janssen.”

Wyomissing: An American Dream is presented with support from The Wyomissing Foundation, Berkshire Charitable Foundation and the Henry Janssen Foundation.

PBS39 also extends special thanks to the Reading Public Museum for hosting the May 4 screening. For more information, please visit wlvt.org/events.
