The city of Allentown Bureau of Recycling and Solid Waste is introducing its new mascot, Single Stream Scottie.

Single Stream Scottie is a black Scottish Terrier that will be trotting his way through Allentown schools, parades and community events, educating everyone on the benefits of recycling and litter prevention. According to Single Stream Scottie, “It’s easier than ever, just mix together!  Your cans, bottles, paper and cardboard can be mixed together in either recycling bin.”

Scottie will make his first public appearance on Romper Day at J. Birney Crum Stadium on Monday, August 8.

The Bureau of Recycling and Solid Waste education program created Single Stream Scottie to help spread the word on the importance of reducing, reusing and recycling.

Anyone interested in scheduling Scottie to attend an assembly, education fair or community event should contact Education Manager, Kristin Baringer at 610-437-8729 or Kristin.Baringer@allentownpa.gov.
