Freedom Auto Group Donates $40,000 to Local Charities

Freedom Auto Group will be holding ceremonies on Thursday, January 12, 2017 @ 2:00PM and on Friday, January 20, 2017 at 1:00PM to formally give away a total of $40,000 to local charitable foundations.  The general public selected the charitable foundations via votes on social media in November and December.

Every November and December, Freedom Auto Group hosts “Freedom Giving Thanks,” a program in which the company finds 8 different opportunities to give away $5,000 to local charities. They give away a total of $40,000 over an 8-week period. This year marks $200,000 in total funds donated to local non-profit organizations through Freedom Giving Thanks alone.

“Freedom Giving Thanks is a way for the community to rally around their favorite non-profits.  We received over 21,000 nominations this year, which allows us to learn about new charities doing extraordinary work all over our community,” said Eric Savage, President of Freedom Auto Group. “Although there are only 8 non-profits who earn the prize money, every nominated non-profit is a winner because someone in the community cared enough about their work to nominate them.”

People were able to vote for any 501(c)(3) organization they thought deserved the money by submitting a vote on any one of the auto group’s Facebook pages. To enter, a person needed to write the name of the organization and why they thought the organization deserved the money.

Beneficiaries of the 8-week event include the Girls on the Run Capitol Area, Hope Rescue Mission in Reading, D.R.E.A.M Partnership from Carlisle, Little Acts of Love, Central Pennsylvania Youth Ballet, Reading Public Museum, Caitlin’s Smiles of Harrisburg, and Prospectus Berco of Reading.

The check presentations will take place on January 12, 2017 at 2:00 PM and Friday, January 20, 2017 at 1:00PM. The ceremony on January 12, 2017 @ 2:00 PM will honor the organizations located in the Reading area at Freedom Toyota of Hamburg (41 Industrial Drive in Hamburg, PA). The ceremony on January 20, 2017 @ 1:00 PM will honor the organizations located in the Harrisburg area at Freedom Toyota of Harrisburg (6060 Allentown Blvd in Harrisburg, PA). All members of the community are welcome to attend.

Eric Savage says Freedom Giving Thanks is one of his favorite parts of being in what he calls, “The Life Improvement Business,” which he started on his own in 2006. The mission of the auto group is much bigger than simply selling and serving vehicles. Instead, the Life Improvement Specialists work to improve the lives of every customer that walks through their doors in addition to the community at large.

Freedom Auto Group consists of Hyundai and Toyota dealerships in Hamburg, PA, and Chrysler Dodge Jeep RAM and Toyota dealerships in Harrisburg, PA.
