Meals on Wheels of Lehigh County Elects New Board Members at Annual Meeting And Presents Asbury United Methodist Church with Community Partnership Award

(January 27, 2015) – At its Annual Meeting on January 23, Meals on Wheels of Lehigh County elected four new Board members: Cassandra Alleyne, Financial Advisor, Stifel Investments; Michael Daley, Hospitality and Food Service Management, Sodexo @ Moravian Square; Cindy Merritt, CPA, Buckno Lisicky and Company; and Kenneth R. Nitroy, Jr., Account Executive, Edwards Business System. They replace outgoing Board Members: Michael Blum, Attorney, Gross McGinley; James L. Faylor, CPA, Lang, Faylor, Chomo & Co.; and Joseph R. Fenstermacher, Financial Advisor, Questar Capital-Health Insurance Worx.

The Board elected the following officers for the 2015 term: Michael Santanasto, Attorney, Santanasto Law, President; Julie Profilet-Saucier, Business Manager, Spillman Farmer Architects, Vice President; Joy Buckley Reed, Avago Technologies, Secretary; and Lisa M. Oldt, The Pidcock Company, Treasurer.

Every year the Agency recognizes an outstanding supporter. This year Meals on Wheels presented the Agency’s Community Partnership Award to Asbury United Methodist Church for its outstanding support. Asbury United Methodist has a delivery team of 10 who cover one delivery route every Thursday. The team members are Evelyn Hart, coordinator, Shirley Baxter, Lucretia Crandell, Judy Ehninger, Bill Hart, Virginia Myers, Manly Offutt and Peg Samois. Chuck Ehninger and Eilenn Dolcin are substitutes. They have been delivering meals since February 16, 2006 and have logged 5,107 miles and 1,706 hours. Asbury United Methodist also provides the space for the Agency’s Annual Volunteer Recognition dinner and financial support through an annual grant to subsidize meals for low-income clients.

Their generosity of time, talent, and financial support allows us to reach people throughout the community who need our service. Asbury’s delivery volunteers, so ably coordinated by the late Nancy Pietrobon and now by Evelyn Hart, exemplify the value of group volunteering. Making a sustained commitment to improving the lives of our clients, these wonderful volunteers have become familiar and much-loved faces representing Meals on Wheels.”

Each weekday, Meals on Wheels of Lehigh County, a nonprofit agency, serves 420 homebound seniors and adults with disabilities living throughout Lehigh County.1020 individual and group volunteers deliver almost !60,000 meals each year; more than six million since 1971.
