FIRST DOG DAYS OF SUMMER SET FOR FRIDAY IN T-TOWN

TREXLERTOWN, Pa. – This Friday night both man and his best friend can watch the Olympic cycling as it is the first Dog Days of Summer of 2017 at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center for the UCI Festival of Speed. It is the fourth straight World Series of Bicycling night that is UCI sanctioned.

On the track, sprinting for both the men and the women will be in the spotlight as riders from 19 different countries look to showcase their speed. Additionally, there will be a UCI International Omnium for the men (and potentially the women based on numbers) as well as a race for juniors. A morning session of time trials for sprints and racing for the omnium(s) is set for 9 a.m. on Friday. That session is free for fans.

A full schedule of events for Friday morning and evening will be available soon.

This is the second sprint tournament in the 2017 World Series of Bicycling season with the first coming in the UCI U.S. Sprint Gran Prix on opening night where Mandy Marquardt of the U.S. and Jair Tjon En Fa of Suriname won the women’s and men’s tournaments, respectively.

Off the track, it is sure to be a sea of dogs and selfies with plenty of puppies lining the track and enjoying the summer night in T-Town. Admission for dogs is $1, which is a donation to the Paws to Freedom. Also, Andrew Schaffer is set to perform live in the plaza during Happy Hour and leading up to Opening Ceremonies. Additionally, it is a Dollar Dog night at the A-Treat Breakaway Café as hotdogs will be just $1 all night long.

Fans can watch the action from the VeloDeck hospitality area on turn four for just $11. That price gains access to the VIP area, a free beer, and a chance to ride in a Corporate Limousine vehicle on the track, driven by Olympic Gold Medalist Marty Nothstein.

Also, it is the first Exhibition Night for the PeeWee Pedalers, presented by Teva Respiratory, as the first session’s graduates will take a lap around the track and pose for photos under the bright World Series of Bicycling lights during the first intermission.

Tickets are on sale in advance and can be purchased here. Tickets can also be purchased at the box office on the night of the event. General Admission is $6 with seating on the finish line at $9. Children 12 years old and younger are $2.
