Tasty Treats For Our Favorite 4-Legged Friends – by Joe Scrizzi



 

With the dog days of summer upon us Joe Scrizzi has teamed up with Crooked Row Farm to bake up some tasty treats for our favorite for legged friends. Here are two tasty treats you can bake at home using ingredients you can find at local farm stands and farmers markets around the Lehigh Valley.

 

BREATH MINT BONES

2 C. Red Cat Whole Wheat Flour

1.5 C. Milk, Whole

1 T. Baking Powder

3 T. Vegetable Oil

1 Organic Egg, beaten

½ C. Each: Fresh Mint & Fresh Parsley, minced

1.       Plug in Bake-A-Bone, when green light comes on, it’s ready to bake!

2.       Add all ingredients into a medium mixing bowl & mix until well blended (by hand).

3.       Using a small teaspoon, spoon batter into each lower bone mold.

4.       Close unit & bake for 10 minutes. Remove biscuits with fork to cooling rack.

5.       Cool on rack for 30 minutes. Store in fridge in an air tight container. Freeze leftovers.

6.       For a crunchier treat: after treats have cooled down, preheat oven to 350deg, place your baked treats on parchment paper lined cookie sheet. Turn oven OFF. Let bones sit in TURNED OFF oven for 4 -6 hours to dry out.

 

BACON BITES

1 C. chopped cooked bacon, not soft

1 Organic Egg, beaten

 

1.       Plug in Bake-A-Bone, when green light comes on, it’s ready to bake!

3.       Using a small teaspoon, spoon batter into each lower bone mold.
