RIDERS TO BATTLE IN FIRST-EVER SPRINT WARS ON FRIDAY NIGHT

TREXLERTOWN, Pa. – Following 200-meter time trials for qualifying on Tuesday night, the riders are set to battle it out in Sprint Wars, a first-time event, on Friday night at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center, part of the 2017 World Series of Bicycling.

Riders are to be grouped based on times from Tuesday night’s time trials and will compete in a sprint tournament on Friday night, and then a keirin final to top it all off. Click here to view the format for Friday night’s Sprint Wars.

This is a unique event, which groups riders based on times and not on category, like traditional racing. Sprint Wars is open to riders of all ages, and categories, ranging from juniors to masters. This is the first-time Sprint Wars is taking place.

The complete schedule of events will be released shortly.

Off the track, it is Star Wars night in T-Town. Fans are encouraged to dress up in their favorite Star Wars attire to join in on the fun.

Fans can watch the wars from the VeloDeck, the VIP hospitality suite perched up on turn-four, and receive a free beer as well. VeloDeck tickets are just $11 and can be purchased in advance or at the box office on the night of the event. Tickets start as low as $6 with tickets for children 12 years old and younger being $2. Click here to purchase tickets in advance.

Gates and the box office open at 6 p.m. on Friday night with racing starting at 7:30 p.m.
