WEEKLY NUTRITION and FITNESS TIPS

.

Healthy Tip from Michelle Martucci, RD, LDN

Dietician for Bethlehem Area School District

Buy local fruits & vegetables whenever possible. Some of the produce in stores could have traveled thousands of miles. The more time between picking and eating, the more nutrients they loose. If there is not a lot of local produce in season, consider frozen vegetables. Frozen vegetables can be a healthy choice because they are frozen soon after being picked, and retain more nutrients. Just avoid the ones with added seasonings and sauces, which can make them less healthy
