BIG BROTHERS/SISTERS OF THE LEHIGH VALLEY, Allentown is looking for Mentors for students at Fountain Hill Elementary School, Bethlehem. Mentors and Littles meet once a week 3:30-4:45pm; activity ideas are provided. Mentors are also needed for a Breakfast Program at Paxinosa Elementary, Easton. COMMUNITY BIKE WORKS, Allentown is hosting a Youth Leadership Celebration to mark a semester of learning with a networking mixer and dinner on Thursday, 12/14. Volunteers are needed to coordinate drives for food donations to provide a dinner for their students and their guests, approximately 25 people. EQUI-LIBRIUM, INC., Nazareth needs volunteers (14+ years) to help with their Holiday Horse Camp. Volunteers will assist participants with disabilities by helping them on and off the horse, walk next to the rider when they are mounted, help with their lesson, and help during other horse related activities (grooming, feeding, etc.). HAVEN HOUSE, Allentown is looking for groups or individuals to coordinate Holiday Collection Drives of NEW cold-weather items (hat, gloves, and scarves), kids’ items (crayons, stickers, etc.), winter care items (Chap Stick, lotions, etc.) and more. Items will be distributed to their clients with mental illness, those with limited access to transportation, and limited resources. MEALS ON WHEELS OF LEHIGH COUNTY, Allentown needs volunteers (18+ years) to go grocery shopping for homebound seniors and adults with disabilities in an area of Lehigh County that works best for you. Flexible scheduling based on client’s needs (weekly, bi-weekly, or monthly). A 40 minute orientation is required. PLEASURE OF YOUR COMPANY THERAPY DOGS, INC., Kutztown seeks volunteers with therapy dogs to visit residents of various Lehigh Valley nursing homes. THE SALVATION ARMY, Allentown needs responsible, reliable, and trustworthy volunteers for their 2017 Red Kettle Bell Ringing Campaign. Volunteers must relate well with the public, have a desire to help raise funds, be able to stand for a 4 hour shift and ring a hand bell, must dress weather appropriate for outdoors, and provide their own transportation to The Salvation Army on N. 8th St. A short training orientation will be provided.
