Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center Announces New Board Chair and Treasurer

Liz Kleintop Elected Board Chair, Claire Ippoliti Elected Board Treasurer

ALLENTOWN, PA — At the December meeting of the Board of Directors, Liz Kleintop was unanimously elected Chair of the Board, succeeding a successful two-years as chair by Barb Baus, who decided against a second term as Chair, but will continue serving on the Board.  Kleintop is Associate Director of Graduate Programming and Accreditation at Moravian College. She has served as Treasurer of the Board since the center started and plans to serve as Board Chair for one year, as her final year on the Board. Claire Ippoliti, Vice President of Lending at People First Federal Credit Union, who has served on the Board since 2016, was unanimously elected to succeed Kleintop as Treasurer.

“It has been a true honor serving as Board Chair during our time of building a strong foundation for the Center.  I am excited to watch it continue to grow under the Board leadership of Liz Kleintop.” Said Baus, “I have confidence that her commitment to the Center will help it continue to develop in new and exciting ways.”

Newly-elected Board Chair, Liz Kleintop, said, “Working with so many wonderful volunteers from throughout the Lehigh Valley to create and grow Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center over the last few years has been a highlight of my career. The Center has a strong foundation of growth thanks in part to the board leadership of Barb Baus. As a team, the board, staff, volunteers, and funders will continue to work together to grow the Center to provide the community services needed for the LGBT community of the Greater Lehigh Valley.”

“Barb served as Board Chair during a period of unprecedented organizational growth and her commitment to board development has been integral to that growth,” said Adrian Shanker, Executive Director. “And Liz has been a huge part of that growth as well. Her leadership as Treasurer has been incredible and I am very confident in the direction of the organization under her leadership as Board Chair. I’m also really grateful that Claire was willing to serve as Treasurer. Her experience in banking and finance is a sought after skill-set many non-profits boards look for and we are frankly very lucky she was willing to volunteer with us in this capacity.”

Ippoliti has previously served on the Board of Directors of CAMP Rehoboth, the LGBT community center in Rehoboth, DE. She stated, “One of the determining factors on my move to the Lehigh Valley was Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center.  It’s existence signaled that the area was moving in the right direction with acceptance and inclusion. I am excited to be increasing my leadership role at the center by serving as the Treasurer of the Board.”
In addition to the officer transitions, Board Members Kevin Deely and Kim Spotts-Kimmel, Esq. have concluded their board terms and Joshua Shulman, Esq., and Ana Hamilton were elected to two-year terms on the Board.
