Interview with Magician Michael Turco

Masters of Illusion will be live at Sands Bethlehem Event Center on February 8, 2018

“Michael Turco fell in love with the mystery of magic when he was just 5 years old. Spending his summers just miles from the strip in Atlantic City, Michael saw every magic show in the area and was intent to master each trick and illusion on his own.

Michael has had his own show in Las Vegas at Planet Hollywood casino and brought a little bit of Jersey to the strip.

The press describes Turco as “a natural born talent… a true success story.”

Michael has been with the Masters of Illusion tour for several years now and has appeared multiple times on the award winning TV series Masters of Illusion on the CW network.”

Hi Michael, how are you?

Michael- I’m good.

Is this the first time you have been to the Sands Event Center in Bethlehem?

Michael- No, I have been there a couple of times. I wasn’t there last year but I was there the year before. This will be my second time now. We are constantly changing the show and updating it. So this time it will my second time and I am excited to get there. Should be a great show!

I am a big fan and I love the show and it is great that “Masters of Illusion” is on the CW network. You guys do an incredible job on the show. What do you feel is the most difficult thing to perform in front of the audience?

Michael- Well, we constantly rehearse and the cool thing about our show is what you see on TV, we bring right to the stage live. The cool thing about Masters is that there is so much variety in the show. We have danger routines, comedy magicians, and card tricks. We have so many different things in the show. We added music to the show this year so there will be someone playing piano and someone singing. It’s a full variety of entertainment. Like I said we bring what you see on TV to the stage.

Did you always know that you wanted to be a magician?

Michael- Yes I did! I grew up seeing tons of variety shows. I grew up seeing magicians and I was just intrigued with it. I loved seeing the performances and seeing different shows and what they were. As I got older I said magic is what I want to do so I started seeing more magic shows and magicians. I grew up close to Atlantic City and spent my summers down there. I would go to different variety shows. Me and my mom would go and sit in the front row watch all these magicians perform. I just became friends with them and met them and loved seeing that type of performance and I knew that was something I wanted to do.

Did you have anyone that inspired you professionally?

Michael- There were several magicians and my family encouraged me and being behind me and letting me follow through with my dreams. When I was younger I would see the magicians on-stage in Atlantic City and I would wait after the show and talk to the magicians and several of them would be so nice and say hey if you ever need anything you can talk to us. They really guided me and helped me.

I love that “Masters of Illusion” is so audience friendly and you guys do engage with the crowd. Will you be looking for audience participation at The Sands in Bethlehem?

Michael- We do! Myself, I am real big with the audience participation so I will bring up a kid, I will bring up an adult. I’ll bring up several people on-stage to help me out as well as the other magicians. We do bring a lot of people up on-stage and the cool thing about that is we get them involved. People are always like oh I would love to be on-stage with a magician so this is your opportunity to be on-stage with the magicians. If you want to be on-stage raise your hand.

The Magicians are also doing a meet and greet. Are you excited for that and will it be in the lobby of The Sands?

Michael- Yes, we will be outside the lobby. We love meeting the fans and just talking to them about the show. We have a blast. We love meeting them.

There are a lot of people that love and appreciate magic. What type of advice would you give someone who wants to do this as a career?

Michael- I tell everybody and I’ve always pitched it and I’ve always promoted it and I’ve always said it. Remember to believe in yourself and follow your dreams no matter what it is. You need to focus and practice. Meet other magicians and talk to other magicians. You can go on YouTube, get books, and get videos. Just practice and have fun with it.

What do you want to say to the fans and the audience that will be at The Sands Event Center?

Michael- Definitely, come out! Get your tickets! You want to get them early because we always sell-out. If you want to be part of the show make sure you raise your hand because we will definitely get you involved and be part of the show. If you want to meet us afterwards, hang out after and come say Hi.

It was such an honor to speak with you and thank you so much!

Michael- Thank you!
