On May 17, 7:30 p.m., Renaissance takes the stage at the Musikfest Café presented by Yuengling. Performing for nearly 50 years, Renaissance originally formed in1969 when ex-Yardbirds vocalist Keith Relf and drummer Jim McCarty wanted to explore a new sound, blending elements of rock, folk and classical music. In 1971 unique, five-octave vocalist Annie Haslam joined the group, which led to hits like “Northern Lights,” “Carpet of the Sun,” “Mother Russia” and “Ashes are Burning.” In the following decades, Haslam has spearheaded the rebirth of Renaissance. With its musical virtuosity, strong lead voices, the latest technological instrumentation and love for the music, the group has created a new sound, taking them into a new age and performing the repertoire with powerful precision across the world. Tickets for the show are $25-$35.

The Musikfest Café welcomes Queen tribute Almost Queen June 2, 8 p.m. Hailed as an authentic Queen experience, Almost Queen succeeds in blending the vocal layering and studio precision that is a signature of the band with the energy and spectacle of a live stage production. Elaborate lighting, effects and costumes aptly frame the seasoned musicians who step into these very large shoes to effectively render a faithful “Queen experience.” The band, led by singer Joseph Russo, boasts an unbroken string of sold out theaters from New York to San Diego and has headlined major rock festivals worldwide.
