Society of the Arts Idea House 2018 Showcases “Smart Home” Technology and Timeless Design

2018 SOTA Idea House at HoudenHAL Features Energy Efficiency, Innovative Landscaping, Intelligent Rooms

Allentown, PA – The Society of the Arts (SOTA) of the Allentown Art Museum is proud to announce their exciting biennial fundraising project:  the 2018 SOTA Idea House at HoudenHAL (How-den- hall), translated in Dutch means “sustainable home”. The design of this year’s Idea House will be led by Bethlehem House Gallery, a contemporary art gallery providing innovative art in a variety of contemporary styles.

Inspiring designs, innovative energy-efficient practices, and sustainable building materials will bring a decidedly modern approach to the 2018 Idea House. The house gets its power supplied from wind generation, solar energy, and geo-thermal wells. Owned by Hersh and Robin Ruhmel, HoudenHAL, home to Ruhmel Contracting, Inc and The Design Studio, has become the must seen model home for many Lehigh Valley new home and remodeling clients. HoudenHAL is both LEED certified and National Association of Home Builders Green Home Certified.

This year’s featured designers are: Sharon Kimmerle Interior Design, Kelly Dunn Home, Scott Rothenberger’s PLACE, Creative Closets, House Splendid, WW Design, Kemble Richards Interior Design & Decoration, Love Your Room, Oswald Paint & Paper, Bethlehem House Gallery, SpunDesign, La Petite Provence, Counter Culture by Allentown Appliance.

This gorgeous, innovative house is pure inspiration for anyone seeking ideas for redecorating, renovating, adding an addition to their home, or building a new home. As a way of saying thank you for supporting SOTA, the Ruhmels are generously offering their new 2018 “Making Room for Mom” collection of floorplans free to all attendees.

The 2018 SOTA Idea House at HoudenHAL is located just 4 miles west of Fogelsville at 9905 Old 22, next to the New Smithville/Lynneport Exit #45 of I-78.
