The 8th Season of Arena Football kicked off Saturday Night, April 22nd with a battle between the Lehigh Valley SteelHawks and the Maine Mammoths at the PPL Center in Allentown.  

The evening started out by showcasing a New Dance Team: “Essential Elements” of the Rhythm in Motion Dance Company. These young ladies definitely put forth a great performance and will be joining in on every home game in 2018! 

The Home Opener got underway with both teams working their way up and down the field. Lots of crushing action put forth by both teams along the boards. Halfway through 1st Qtr., the Hawks put points up on the board by connecting with a field goal! 

Maine quickly answers with a TD, bringing the score to 6 – 3 Mammoths. With less than 4 minutes in the 1st qtr., LV returns the favor and scores a TD with extra point bringing the score to 10 – 6 SteelHawks.  

2nd qtr. Started off slow with loss of downs and the ball handed back and forth. At halftime the score: Lehigh Valley 10, Maine 12.

3rd qtr. Started out like the 2nd qtr. At the end of the sluggish third quarter the SteelHawks trailed by 1 point with under 2 minutes. Lehigh Valley 17, Maine 18. 

SteelHawks fell behind in the 4th qtr. However, connected on a 25 yd TD from Higgens to Patton Jr. bringing the score to 38-24 Mammoths with under 5 minutes to go. Maine took control closing the game with a score of 45, Lehigh Valley 24. 

The SteelHawks put forth a valiant effort for their 2018 Home Opener, entertaining fans throughout the arena! Lots of footballs made their way into the stands as well in which made for happy fans! 

Kudos to Mike Clark and the @steelhawkslv and @PPLCenter staff for striving to keep quality entertainment here in the Lehigh Valley!
