May 23 – PHS Senior Nina Cao Delivers Special Relativity Lecture to AP Physics Students at PHS, 12:15-1:15 PM. A first-of-its-kind event, PHS Senior Nina Cao, who is headed to Harvard in the fall to study Physics, will teach a lesson to her peers on the theory of Special Relativity, a theory proposed by Albert Einstein that describes the propagation of matter and light at high speeds which PHS Physics teacher Sean Flueso describes as “mind blowing stuff that is the gateway to modern Physics.”

May 23 – PHS Academic Awards Night, 7 PM in the PHS Auditorium

May 24 – FREDDY AWARDS, Live on WFMZ TV, 7 PM

May 25 – School Volunteer Lunch at LCTI

May 28 – MEMORIAL DAY – Schools Closed

May 30 – Athletic Awards and Hall of Fame Ceremony, 5 PM in the PHS Auditorium

Mat 31 – Teacher Dunk Tank Contest for Sierra Leone – The Parkland Sierra Leone Project, which raises money for the Centennial School in Africa, is inviting all teachers to participate in the first annual teacher dunk tank contest. Every participating teacher will be given envelopes with the period numbers that they teach and will collect money from the students in their classes. The teacher with the most money donated in each period will get dunked.The whole class will go down to the grass area outside of the C wing hallway and each student will throw 3 balls at the target in an attempt to dunk their teacher. RAIN DATE: Friday, June 1st.

May 31 – Visual and Performing Arts Awards, 7 PM in the PHS Auditorium

May 31 – LCTI Senior Recognition Program at PPL Center, 6:30 PM

June 2 – Parkland Senior Citizens Social, 6-9 PM, Orefield Middle School

This completely FREE event is hosted by the OMS Builder’s Club and is for those 55+ residing in the Parkland & East Penn School Districts. PLEASE R.S.V.P. BY CALLING (610) 351-5900 ext. 41234

The event will include:

* Dancing to the tunes of oldies DJ, Freddie Frederick Sr.

* Performance by the Orefield Middle School Jazz band

* FREE buffet with a variety of delicious appetizers, desserts, and beverages

* Basket Raffle

June 4 – Senior Cabaret, 7 PM in the PHS Auditorium – Parkland seniors take the PHS stage for the last time.

June 5 – Academic Scholarship Recognition, 3:30 PM, PHS Auditorium – recognizing those who have earned 25% or more in college tuition academic scholarships

June 11 – Graduation at PPL Center for Class of 2018, 7 PM
