The SteelHawks returned to PPL center on May 20th to take on the Columbus Lions.

The evening started off with the students from Lower Macungie Middle School Choir singing the National Anthem.  These kids did a phenomenal job and received a standing ovation!

It was a rocky start from the beginning for the SteelHawks with a fumble on 1st down. Lions took over putting points up first.

Yusef Reddick completes a catch and takes the ball in for a TD tying the game 6 – 6. Lions respond quickly with another touchdown, missing the extra point.

A tough sack in the end zone, Lions tack on 2 more points, Lions 14 – 6 with 6 minutes left in the 1st Qtr.

Lions close the Qtr. 28 – 12.

Second Qtr. was full of hard-hitting tackles and trading the ball back-and-forth. With just 4 minutes left before halftime, the SteelHawks were 3rd & Goal trying to put more points up for the fans! Facemask penalty to QB Walton, now 1st & Goal, third time is the charm, Walton runs the ball in for a Touchdown!

Lions took charge and closed the 1st Half 42 – 18.

Both teams struggled in the 1st half making extra points, field goals and The Duece.

Halftime Performances:

Great show put forth by the Precious Metal Jr. Dance Team.

Kudos to Pocono Mountain East Marching Band. There’s something about hearing High School bands, everyone gets into it!

Lions start the 2nd half off with tacking on another 7pts., bringing the score to 49 – 18.

Another headliner tonight was Leroy McClain who ran a pass in for a Touchdown with under 10 minutes left in the 3rd Qtr.

Throughout the game, SteelHawks Mascot Talon was cheering on the players and entertaining the crowd!

3rd Qtr. closed at Lions 70 – SH 31. SteelHawks kept climbing the ladder, one rung at a time.

Game ended:

Lions – 77
SteelHawks – 38

Key players for the SteelHawks tonight were: Walton, Reddick & McClain.
