GROUPLOVE ROCKS MUSIKFEST – Photos & Story by: Kimberly Kanuck

Last night the alternative rock band Grouplove helped keep the week-long party going at Musikfest. In fact, when I asked 1 enthusiastic fan for her thoughts on the show, she described it as a high-energy good old fashioned rock show, comparable to 80’s Alternative music, that all ages could enjoy. That really sums up the vibe from the crowd that sang along and cheered throughout the entire show.  The performance from this 5 person band was tight and overall sounded awesome. The band really seems to have a great connection with each other, and they were definitely having fun. But what stood out to me the most was the amazing harmonies between husband and wife Christian Zucconi and Hannah Hooper.

The show started off with starting with  “Itchin’ On A Photograph” and  “Remember That Night.” Things really picked up when they played “Shark Attack,” one of my personal favorites. And when they got to their big hit and fan favorite, “Tongue Tied,” the crowd went wild, and everyone was smiling and singing along! They also played covers of  David Bowie’s “Space Oddity” and Beastie Boys’ “Sabotage.” Fan also enjoyed “Ways to Go” and the final song of the night, “Colours.” This was my first time seeing Grouplove perform and they exceeded my expectations. In my opinion, this should have been a sold-out show. If you have a chance to see them live, I highly recommend it! Thank you to Musikfest and their amazing staff of volunteers for allowing us to cover the show.
