BOYS & GIRLS CLUB OF ALLENTOWN is looking for individuals/groups dedicated to working with youth for fall/winter/spring programs between 3:30-9pm weekdays. From homework help, coaching, cooking or STEM experiments, to Art projects, Dance and Yoga, there are a variety of ways individuals and groups can volunteer. CANCER SUPPORT COMMUNITY GREATER LEHIGH VALLEY, Bethlehem needs volunteers to assist with their 11th Annual Wings of Hope Butterfly Release benefiting local cancer patients from 9am-1pm on Saturday, September 8 at Cedar Crest College. Motivated people are needed to spread the word about this Celebration of Life event, where community members can honor and/or remember loved ones. CENTER FOR CAREER PATHWAYS AND LITERACY, Allentown needs volunteer tutors for its adult literacy program. Tutors work one-on-one or in small groups with adults looking to obtain their GED. Tutors also needed for English as a Second Language. Tutoring times are flexible. Resources and materials will be provided. Training scheduled for September 11 at 10am and September 13 at 6pm. CETRONIA AMBULANCE CORPS, Allentown is looking for a volunteer Medical Operator to transport patients not requiring medical monitoring or observation, who are ambulatory without assistance but need basic transportation for medical appointments, etc. Must know Lehigh Valley area and be able to read maps or follow directions on a GPS; CPR certification will be needed; must have valid PA driver’s license, and clean driving record. HISPANIC CENTER OF THE LEHIGH VALLEY, Bethlehem needs a volunteer with pickup truck, SUV, or van to pick up cases of food donated by Sam’s Club on Airport Road in Allentown twice a month on Fridays @10:30am. LEHIGH VALLEY HEALTH NETWORK MARATHON FOR VIA, Lehigh Valley is seeking volunteers (age 12+) on Sunday, September 9 to be course marshals along the race route through the cities of Allentown, Bethlehem, and Easton. Times vary between 6am-1:30pm. Course Marshals make sure the runners stay on course and CHEER them on. Call Karen DeLuca, 484-239-4030, volunteers@vianet.org.

 

LEHIGH VALLEY HOSPICE, Allentown needs committed volunteers for inpatient hospice unit (10 bed) at 17th & Chew. A regular 2 hour weekly commitment is needed. Duties include: sitting with patients, connecting with families, helping with new admissions, replenishing supplies, answering unit phone, organizing common areas, making coffee, clerical help as needed. Weekend/Evening help is always encouraged. Volunteers will be fully screened and must participate in a12 hour training. THIRD STREET ALLIANCE FOR WOMEN & CHILDREN, Easton – As residents are successfully placed in their new locations, volunteers are needed to prepare resident rooms for the next client. Rooms must be disinfected, swept, vacuumed, mopped, and bedding switched out. The timing on this volunteer opportunity varies depending on the length of time residents stay.
