BETHLEHEM SPECIAL OLYMPICS needs additional Basketball volunteers on Monday nights starting in January. Practices are held on Mondays from 6:30-8pm at Northeast Middle School. Volunteers only need to know the basics of basketball and be able to commit to attending most practices. CARBON CAREER AND TECHNICAL INSTITUTE, Jim Thorpe has a need for volunteer tutors for its adult literacy program. Tutors will work one-on-one or in small groups with adults looking to improve their academic skills to obtain their high school equivalency. COMMUNITY ACTION COMMITTEE OF LEHIGH VALLEY, SBR PROGRAM – Slate Belt Rising needs volunteers from 11am-5pm on September 30 for “The Slate Belt Bash” in Portland, PA. The event consists of a road rally scavenger hunt, games, food vendors, and live entertainment. Volunteers are needed to supervise games and for clean-up. Game supervision volunteers must have a child abuse clearance, which they will help volunteers get free of charge. Call Stephen Reider, 484-523-0900, sreider@caclv.org.

 

COMMUNITY PARTNERS 4 KIDS, Allentown needs a volunteerwith graphic design skills to create their bi-monthly newsletter. Content will be furnished but needs appealing design. Their initial publication will be in mid-December. Call Clay Smith, 610-762-8054, clay@cp4kids.org.

 

EASTERN PA DOWN SYNDROME CENTER, Breinigsville – The Lehigh Valley Buddy Walk will be held on
Saturday, October 6 at the Valley Preferred Cycling Center (rain or shine). Volunteers are needed for
a variety of roles from setup to assistance with games and activities, food and water distribution,

EQUI-LIBRIUM, Nazareth needs volunteers (age 14+) to be horse leaders and side helpers to assist during horseback riding and cart driving lessons for children and adults with special needs. Volunteers will be assigned to the same participant for one hour once a week for 11 weekly sessions. Volunteers are also needed for Special Events and doing work around the farm or in the office. LEHIGH VALLEY ZOO, Schnecksville is open 7 days a week from 10am-4pm and is looking for volunteers
to help on weekdays (Mon.-Fri.). Volunteers help at a variety of interactive stations including: Giraffe
Feedings, Lorikeet Landing, Goat and Barn Yard Exhibit Team, and Kangaroo Tour Team. Call Julia

PROJECT OF EASTON needs volunteers to help with food pantry donation pickup. Help to gather items
donated from neighborhood grocery stores, convenience stores, local farms, etc. and drop off at
their Food Pantry. Flexible scheduling between hours of 8:30am-4pm Mondays to Fridays. Must
