ALLENTOWN SCHOOL DISTRICT FOUNDATION training session for the volunteer reading program is scheduled for Thursday, October 25, from 2:00-3:00pm at Jackson Early Childhood Center located at 517 North 15th Street in Allentown. Parking is on the street. Background clearances will need to be obtained to read in the schools and directions to obtain them will be distributed. CEDARBROOK SENIOR CARE AND REHAB, Allentown is having its Annual Holiday Bazaar on Friday, November 16th. Volunteers are needed 9:30-3:30 to assist residents with their shopping by escorting residents who are able to walk or pushing residents in wheelchairs, work at tables for bake sale/crafts, set up, clean up, etc. This is an amazing and fun day for everyone. CENTER FOR HUMANISTIC CHANGE, Allentown is looking for someone with a pleasant, outgoing personality to volunteer in our office answering telephones, greeting guests, copying, filing and typing, for about 12 to 20 hours a week. COMPEER OF THE LEHIGH VALLEY matches volunteers from the community with members in need of friendship who are in stable mental health recovery. Volunteers spend four hours a month engaging in activities they both enjoy, like simply going for a walk or out for a cup of coffee. Compeer has also added a similar service for veterans called CompeerCorps. If you know a veteran in need of a friendship or a veteran who is interested in volunteering with other veterans, we are waiting to hear from them. DELAWARE & LEHIGH NATIONAL HERITAGE CORRIDOR, Easton needs help to get ready for our fall programming and preparing the boat and grounds for winter. Decorate the grounds and museum for fall events and Haunted Hugh Moore Park; prepare the flower beds for winter; staining wood; prepare exhibit room & displays, plus lots more. FEED THE CHILDREN, Bethlehem is currently accepting volunteer applications for our Teacher Store from dedicated and outgoing volunteers to help teachers shop for free school supplies and classroom furniture from 2:00-5:00 pm every Wednesday of the month, August through May. Check-in, check-out, assisting shoppers during open hours, and restocking the store during the week. Volunteers are asked to arrive at 1:30 pm. THE GRESS MOUNTAIN RANCH, Orefield needs help from up to 50 volunteers for the Open Gate Farm Tour 10AM-5:30PM, on Sunday, October 21. Baked goods are needed for the bake sale and volunteers are needed to help with the food stands, raffle table, parking cars and other ranch activities. Minimum age 12 with adult supervision.
