November 4 – Daylight Savings Ends – turn clocks back one hour.

November 5, Parent University with Marc Mero on Facing Adversity and Overcoming Challenges, SMS Auditorium, 7 PM. 8th and 9th graders will receive Marc Mero’s special message about facing adversity in the morning and then parents are invited in at night to be inspired by Marc’s message as he inspires people to examine their life choices.

November 6, Election Day, Schools Closed.

November 7, DIWALI.

November 8, 1st Marking Period Ends for Elem and PHS.

November 8, PPL’s Take Action Program at Orefield Middle School, 10:15 AM. This program will be presented to all 8th grade students to Think!, Talk! and Take Action! about their energy use by installing energy-efficient technologies. Students get to take home kits that include LED light bulbs, a low flow shower head and a low flow spicket for a faucet and more!

November 9, Fred J. Jaindl Elementary School Veterans Day Celebration, 9:30 – 10:30 AM.

November 9-11, PHS Children’s Show, Mary Poppins, Jr. Fri at 7 PM, Sat at 3 & 7 PM and Sun at 3 PM.

November 12, Schnecksville Elementary School Veterans Day “Salute to Those Who Served” Assembly, 2-3 PM.

Parkland In the News this Week…

Parkland School District is training teachers in how to help kids with trauma

Under an initiative called Trauma Informed Schools, staff at Parkland School District are working with teachers on how to be that adult and how to understand the way trauma affects kids and what their needs are.
