The Parkland Dance team visited the Sixth Street Shelter on Friday, December 7. They read to children and passed out gift bags and cookies to the families. In addition, the dance team had adopted 7 individuals ranging in age from 6 months to 35 years old. Each individual received 5 gifts from their wish list. Then, the Dance Team delivered homemade cookies and performed a holiday dance for senior citizens at Phoebe, Heather Glen Senior Living, Country Meadows and Luther Crest Nursing homes.

The 2018 JV & Varsity Squads surpassed their goal and set a new record, collecting $20,240.50. The Girls Soccer program has raised $59,101 in the past three years for charities.

This past month, the PHS Girls’ Soccer Team met a child whose wish they fulfilled in partnership with the Dream Come True organization. Players made homemade cards and presented the child with a plaque with their EPC & District XI Championship medals attached (thank you to CJ Wagner Trophies for donating the plaque).

The team has sponsored two children in the Dream Come True program this year, one little girl who is getting a new bedroom and Chromebook and another little girl who is going to Disney World. They also made a donation to a young girl in the Allentown School District who is fighting a very rare disease. Her family, instead of accepting the gift for their family,

worked with Amazon and Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP) to purchase Christmas toys for patients, helping 46 children who spent Christmas at CHOP this year. They also made a donation to the Pediatric Cancer Foundation of Lehigh Valley, another organization that assists families with children diagnosed with cancer.

Al Haddad, the Girls Soccer coach stated, “This campaign over the past three years has truly empowered these young ladies in making a difference.

They see first-hand the difference they make in the life of one or many children and I can tell you, they have gone on to college and have continued

to give back.”
