The Honorary First Defenders will be participating in their annual church service at Zion’s Reformed U.C.C. Church, 620 Hamilton Street, Allentown, PA. The original First Defenders were called to protect our Capitol in April, 1861 and stopped at Zion’s church to pray before boarding the train to Harrisburg. The church service is held on the date closest to Abraham Lincoln’s birthday. Company G, 96th Pennsylvania Volunteer Infantry will be there to portray the soldiers of the Civil War Regiment color guard and Civil War reenactors.

Ken Purcell and Jake Laubach “The Jolly Tars” will perform historical music that influenced popular Civil War era songs.
