AMERICAN RED CROSS of the GREATER LEHIGH VALLEY, Allentown – Help us SOUND THE ALARM AND SAVE LIVES by volunteering to share fire-safety tips and install free smoke alarms (by appointment throughout Allentown) from 8:30am-2:30pm on Saturday, April 27. Equipment, supplies, training (no prior experience needed), even light breakfast, snacks and lunch will be provided. CANCER SUPPORT COMMUNITY GREATER LEHIGH VALLEY will be hosting a Volunteer Kick-off from 7-8PM on February 26 to jumpstart 2019 and help you gain an understanding of who we are, who we serve and why volunteers are so important to us. HISTORIC BETHLEHEM MUSEUMS & SITES – Volunteers are needed to plant/tend the Colonial Garden at Burnside Plantation. The Garden is planted with heirloom seeds and plants and everything is grown organically. Plants, seeds, and compost are provided, and gardeners share fresh produce from the garden. LEHIGH VALLEY ZOO, Schnecksville is looking for dedicated volunteers (13+ years) for the 2019 season. Volunteers may assist with positions including interactive exhibits, conservation activity stations, special events, memberships, marketing, and grounds departments. NAZARETH CENTER FOR THE ARTS needs a volunteer to update/maintain their social media accounts. Minimum 2 postings per week, related to the arts. This person would also be responsible for adding events as needed. Current accounts on Facebook and Twitter. Ability to be creative and post visually appealing and engaging content preferred. SECOND HARVEST – COOKING MATTERS PROGRAM – Volunteers are needed for their “Cooking Matters Program,” a six-week cooking/nutrition educational course, offered to low income families at sites in Allentown and Bethlehem. Must commit to 3 hours per week for 6 consecutive weeks. A 2-hour online training and a 1 hour in-person training are required. THE GRESS MOUNTAIN RANCH, Orefield has a year-round need for volunteers to help at their ranch, a sanctuary for abused and neglected animals. Help feed and water the ducks, chickens, piggies, alpacas, goats, horses, and more, or help with light ranch maintenance. THE SALVATION ARMY CHILDREN’S SERVICES, Allentown is seeking energetic volunteers that want to make a difference in the lives of foster children and families in the Lehigh Valley by helping to plan their 8th Annual Rock N Run 4 Kids. This is a 10K, 5K, and Kids Fun Run held in May at Coca-Cola Park. This is a flexible opportunity with the ability to do much of the work on your own time. Group meetings are once a month.
