Weekly Updates

Come out and learn about all of the available resources in our community. There will be lots of family activities, snacks, prizes, tastings, parents can tour a mock “teen” bedroom to find our where things may be lurking, and many agencies will be on hand to answer questions. Check out this flyer for more info.

From 2017 to 2018, e-cigarette use surged nearly 78% among high school students.

In 2018, 1.5 million more middle and high school students vaped than in 2017 – up to 3.6 million from 2.1 million.

Students who vape report that they are doing it more frequently, and many use other tobacco products, such as cigarettes, as well.

Our children are faced with deciding whether or not to use drugs at younger ages than ever before, and earlier drug use increases the risk of addiction. We encourage parents and other concerned community members to attend this program in order to learn about:

· Vaping devices popular with young people

· Health dangers associated with vaping

· How the use of gateway drugs, such as tobacco & vaping products, puts kids at risk of further drug use

· Talking to your child about the vaping fad

Orefield Middle School Auditorium, 7 PM. All Parkland parents welcome to attend.

Leap to Hyperspeed at Parkland SD on May the 4th for our annual celebration of the best tools, resources, and strategies that EdTech has to offer! Teacher Tech Con is oriented to support the values espoused in Parkland Ready 21: fostering learner-centric classrooms, supporting student voice and choice, providing authentic projects, building 21st century skills, and creating upstanding digital citizens. Educators attend FREE, but space is limited. More info at www.psdttc.org.

Got stuff you don’t want anymore? The Parkland Music Boosters will take it at their annual clothing/household items drive. Click and view the flyer for more info on what they will accept and not accept.
