AMERICAN RED CROSS of the GREATER LEHIGH VALLEY, Allentown – Help us SOUND THE ALARM AND SAVE LIVES by volunteering to share fire-safety tips and install free smoke alarms (by appointment throughout Allentown) from 8:30am-2:30pm on Saturday, April 27. CENTER FOR CAREER PATHWAYS AND LITRACY – LCCC, Allentown is looking for volunteer tutors for its adult literacy program to work one-on-one or in small groups. Volunteers will work with adults looking to improve their skills in various subjects including ESL. Tutoring times are flexible dependent upon your schedule. Resources and materials will be provided. COOKING MATTERS PROGRAM-SECOND HARVEST FOOD BANK needs volunteers (18+ years) to help with six-week nutrition education program at various sites throughout the Lehigh Valley area. Teach kids, teens, adults, parents, and families how to cook and instill skills/knowledge to prepare, cook and execute healthy/affordable meals. Must commit to 3 hours a week for 6 weeks. EASTERN PENNSYLVANIA DOWN SYNDROME CENTER, Trexlertown is seeking volunteers to help with a variety of duties at their annual 3.21 Run for Down Syndrome on Saturday, April 20 at Camp Olympic Park, Emmaus. GIRL SCOUTS of EASTERN PENNSYLVANIA need volunteers to help our property team set up tents for Girl Scout spring camping at Camp Mosey Wood, White Haven, PA from 9am-3pm on April 22. GREATER VALLEY YMCA, Easton is looking for volunteers (18+ years) to assist with Healthy Kids Day from 2-7pm on Saturday, April 27. Duties include event set-up, implementation, and tear-down; specifically directing foot traffic inside the building, assisting vendors, setting up tables/chairs, serving food, greeting public, answering general questions, and other tasks associated with this event. LEHIGH COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY, Allentown needs volunteers for animal care (cats, small animals, and small dogs) from 8:15-11:15am daily. Care includes cleaning cages and providing food and water. PROJECT OF EASTON needs a food pantry delivery volunteer with a pickup truck for food/donation runs from 9am-1pm on Wednesdays. Volunteers need to be able to do heavy lifting (upwards of 50-75 lbs.) multiple times during a pickup and delivery and must help to stock food items and break down boxes.
