PBS39 to Broadcast Live Allentown Mayoral Debate



 

This live debate, featuring the candidates running for mayor of Allentown, will air at 7 p.m. on Monday, May 13.

Bethlehem, PA. – May 6, 2019 – PBS39 will broadcast a live mayoral debate from 7-8 p.m. in the Samuels Theatre at Cedar Crest College on Monday, May 13, 2019. This is the second debate in the station’s Who Will Lead? series, which will also include a mayoral debate in Reading on Tuesday, May 14. PBS39’s Who Will Lead? series will continue through the November 2020 election cycle.

PBS39 Executive Producer and Host Monica Evans will moderate this debate alongside Dr. Christine Carpino, Assistant Professor of Political Science at Cedar Crest College. This live debate will feature candidates Ray O’Connell (Incumbent) (D), Patrick Palmer (D), Cheryl Johnson-Watts (D), Michael Daniels (D) and Timothy Ramos (R).

About Monica Evans
PBS39 Executive Producer and Host Monica Evans has more than three decades of broadcast experience. Before joining the team at PBS39, Evans spent 11 years as a senior reporter for the FOX affiliate in Kansas City, Missouri. Previously, she worked as a court and crime reporter for the ABC affiliate in Springfield, Massachusetts, an arts and entertainment reporter for the FOX affiliate in Hartford, Connecticut and a talk show host/producer for the NBC affiliate in Hartford. Evans has a bachelor’s degree in communications and journalism from Central Connecticut State University.

About Dr. Christine Carpino
Dr. Carpino teaches courses on public policy, international relations, political thought and American politics at Cedar Crest College. She earned her B.A. in politics from Fairfield University and her M.A. and Ph.D. from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill. Prior to teaching at Cedar Crest, she taught at Santa Clara University and JFK University in California. In addition to teaching political science, Dr. Carpino also serves at the Research Coordinator for the Lehigh Valley Research Consortium, a collaborative program that connects local faculty with community organizations to conduct community-based research.
