Lehigh County Honors Older Adults

Holds Unsung Heroes Tribute

In honor of Older Americans Month, Lehigh County Office of Aging and Adult Services will recognize 14 older adults who display exceptional generosity with their time and talents to enhance the lives of others.

The 19th annual “Tribute to Unsung Heroes” will take place on Wednesday, May 15 at 1 p.m. at Fellowship Community, Zentz Community Building, Fellowship Hall, 3000 Fellowship Drive in Whitehall.

Since 1963, May has been designated as a special month to honor older Americans.

Honorees include Ed Curran who has served with the Peace Corps and continues to make trips in retirement to Central America working with programs that support people with disabilities, and Barry Faust who not only helps raise money and awareness for families with law enforcement officers killed or seriously injured in the line of duty, but as a cancer patient, races for a Cancer triathlon team to raise money for cancer victims.

The Office of Aging and Adult Services advocates for Lehigh County residents and provides a wide range of services and information to help older adults remain healthy, active, independent and productive members of their community.
