BB&T Lehigh Valley Charity Challenge Winners Announced
Donations from BB&T Total $25,000
First Charity Challenge focused on nonprofits serving less fortunate women and children

BETHLEHEM, PA (5/22/19) – Five independent nonprofits throughout the Lehigh Valley, Pennsylvania, received donations from BB&T totaling $25,000 this month as part of the company’s first Lehigh Valley Charity Challenge.

The Lehigh Valley Charity Challenge was run on social media during March 2019. BB&T Community Development/CRA/Fair Credit Lending Officer David Grow, with help from the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce, identified five small charities that are helping those less-fortunate with emphasis on children and women. Lehigh Valley residents were encouraged to vote via social media for their favorite charity. A total donation of $25,000 was then awarded based on how each charity finished in the voting, with the dollars split as follows:

First Place                   Community Services for Children         $7,000
Second Place              Valley Youth House                                       $6,000
Third Place                  My Sister’s Closet                                          $5,000
Fourth Place               Mary’s Shelter/Cay Galgon Center     $4,000
Fifth Place                   Miracle League of the Lehigh Valley    $3,000

“BB&T is committed to strengthening the communities we serve and supporting organizations that focus on helping less-fortunate women and children is just one of the ways we do that,” said BB&T Greater Lehigh Valley Market President Lewis Cyr. “BB&T is proud to encourage the important work of these organizations.”
