Two talented and passionate leaders will take the helm of the top immigrant advocacy organization in June.

The leadership of Make the Road PA (c3) and its sister organization, Make the Road Action in PA (c4) are about to get an upgrade.

Maegan Llerena is the new Director of Make the Road PA, and the PA Director of Make the Road Action. Maegan has been with MRPA/MRAPA since 2017. She has already played a critical role in the organization’s success, and has effectively led the organization since the departure of MRPA/MRAPA’s previous director in November. Maegan is a first generation child of immigrants from Peru, and holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work.

Ivan Garcia is the new Civic Engagement Director of Make the Road PA and the Political Director of Make the Road Action in PA. Ivan has been working with Make the Road NY and Make the Road Action in NY for the past several years. He has also led a number of successful political campaigns including getting progressive champion Yuh-Line Niou elected to the NY State Assembly. Ivan was born in Mexico and raised in Brooklyn, NY, and holds an MA in Political Science with a concentration on Urban Policy and Public Administration.

“Great things are sure to come with Maegan and Ivan leading Make the Road PA and Make the Road Action in PA. I’m very excited to see where MRPA/MRAPA will go in the future, building on their great work and strong track record over the past several years.”

Hilary Klein, Director of Multi-State Initiatives, Make the Road CT, NJ, NV, NY, and PA

Make the Road Action in PA builds political power rooted in immigrant and working-class communities, promotes progressive policy solutions, and strengthens the movement for justice through electoral and grassroots organizing in Allentown, Reading and Philadelphia.
