ALLENTOWN RESCUE MISSION, Allentown needs a weekly gardener volunteer to donate, plant flowers, and weed their Gateway Center entrance. This person should be a self-starter who will bring all needed tools, maintain trees/shrubs, and weed on a weekly basis. A volunteer is also needed to stain their gazebo. CENTER FOR VISION LOSS, Allentown needs volunteers to assist clients with visual impairment during a weekly walk at the Lehigh Valley Mall from 9-10:30am every Wednesday. COMMUNITY BIKE WORKS, Allentown needs volunteers to teach the class in their Earn-a-Bike program. This program teaches students (ages 9-17) basic bike mechanics and safety over a 12-week course. Mentors aid students as they fix their bike and learn communication and teamwork skills. Upon completion of the course, students earn their refurbished bike and a new helmet. EQUI-LIBRIUM, INC, (EQUINE ASSISTED ACTIVITIES & THERAPIES), Nazareth needs volunteers (ages 14+) to help during five different weeks of half-day Horse Camp. Camp dates are June 24-28 and August 19-23 (students ages 4-7); July 15-19 and August 12-16 (ages 8-12); August 5-9 (ages 13+). GREATER VALLEY YMCA, Easton is looking for volunteers (adult supervision for ages 15-17) to help with their Annual Firecracker 4-Miler Race from 6-11:30am on Thursday, July 4. Proceeds support youth program scholarships at the Easton/Phillipsburg Branch of Greater Valley YMCA. LEHIGH VALLEY BUSINESS GROUP, Bethlehem is looking for volunteers for their Sunshine for Seniors Program, a program for low income seniors/individuals who are no longer physically capable nor can afford to hire anyone to do minor yard work. Bring sunshine into their lives by volunteering to: rake leaves/clean yards, trim bushes, plant flowers/vegetables, minor painting, or other odds-n-ends to help the outdoor space of the homeowner. MUSEUM OF INDIAN CULTURE, Allentown is hosting their annual Roasting Ears of Corn Festival on 8/17 and 8/18. Volunteers are needed to help with set-up from 11am-4pm on Sat. 8/3 and Sun. 8/4; clean-up from 6-9pm on Sun. 8/18. Opportunities for 8/17 and 8/18 consist of helping with children’s activities, food stands, hospitality, and social media coordinator. UNITED WAY OF THE GREATR LEHIGH VALLEY, Bethlehem is looking for volunteers for Healthy Aging VISTA to support the “Take A Senior Out” program and grow awareness about social isolation and the impact it has on health/well-being of older adults. The VISTA member will develop a schedule of activities and coordinate resources for participants and volunteers; work on recruitment and training for volunteers; build relationships; and help identify funding resources.
