PBS39’s Genesis Ortega Named Hispanic Businessperson of the Year

Ortega was honored during the Excellence in Business Awards hosted by the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce.
 
Bethlehem, PA. – June 21, 2019 – PBS39’s Genesis Ortega was named Hispanic Businessperson of the Year during the Greater Lehigh Valley Chamber of Commerce Excellence in Business Awards. The ceremony took place at the ArtsQuest Center in Bethlehem, PA on Thursday, June 20, 2019.
 
Ortega is the host of PBS39’s Spanish-language talk show, Es Tiempo Lehigh Valley. This weekly program highlights the diversity and cultural essence of the Latino community in the Greater Lehigh Valley. She also serves as Membership and Community Engagement Ambassador for the Lehigh Valley’s public media station.

“Genesis Ortega is a wonderful representative for PBS39,” Tim Fallon, Chief Executive Officer at PBS39 said. “Her talents and passion are a tremendous asset and we are proud to have her on our team. Her work is truly creating a community that is inspired, engaged and vibrant.”

Ortega joined the PBS39 family in May 2018. She also serves as a board member for the FE Foundation program, which introduces comprehensive life skills and entrepreneurial training to high school students in the Lehigh Valley. She is passionate about community outreach, especially as it pertains to the Hispanic community.

“I am honored and humbled to be recognized alongside so many other inspiring and influential leaders from the Lehigh Valley,” Ortega said. “I would like to thank my family and the incredible PBS39 team for supporting me in my endeavors. I can assure you, this is only the beginning and I look forward to seeing what the future holds.”

Ortega speaks fluent Spanish and French and earned a bachelor’s degree in International Management and French from Moravian College. She began her career working for United Healthcare’s Medicare and Retirement division as a bilingual Service Account Manager, where she developed skills and knowledge helpful to her next role in U.S. Congressman Charlie Dent’s office. During her time working for the House of Representatives, she interacted with constituents and community leaders from across the 15th Congressional District, which included; Lehigh, Northampton, Berks, Lebanon, and Dauphin counties.
