Thursday, June 27 is National HIV Testing Day.

The Allentown Health Bureau will be offering free, confidential HIV testing at its Alliance Hall Office at 245 N 6th Street on Thursday from 9:00am to 11:00am.

According to the latest statistics from the Pennsylvania Department of Health, an estimated 36,000 Pennsylvanians are currently living with HIV.

In 2017, less than 1,000 new diagnoses were reported in the commonwealth.

Lehigh County has seen 143 diagnosed cases from 2014 through 2017.

Although a person can be infected at any age, the majority of any new diagnoses occur in persons who are between the ages of 20 and 49 years.

For more information, please call the Health Bureau at 610-437-7760.
