Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center is a Plaintiff in the federal lawsuit seeking to block the rule

ALLENTOWN, PA — On Saturday, June 29, the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) stipulated that it will delay the implementation of its Denial of Care Rule. A court order put the delay of the rule into effect yesterday. The rule will no longer take effect on July 22 as originally planned; instead, the rule will be delayed at least until November 22.

Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center is a plaintiff in the federal lawsuit seeking to block the rule. The center, along with other Plaintiffs, are represented by Lambda Legal, Center for Reproductive Rights, and Americans United for Separation of Church and State, with pro bono counsel from Mayer Brown LLP.

The following statement may be attributed to Adrian Shanker, Executive Director of Bradbury-Sullivan LGBT Community Center:

The Trump Administration’s Denial-of-Care Rule would cause harm for LGBT people seeking health care anywhere in the country. LGBT people already experience numerous challenges when seeking care and as a result, the LGBT community sees incredible health disparities. Our Motion for a Preliminary Injunction was so strong that the Trump Administration has delayed implementation of the Denial of Care Rule until November rather than respond to our motion. We will continue to advocate for a high-quality of health for the LGBT community in the Lehigh Valley.
