Inaugural PA STEAM Fest Comes to SteelStacks Aug. 31

STEAM-based education meets Steampunk at SteelStacks for the inaugural PA STEAM Fest Aug. 31 from 10 a.m.- 5 p.m. The free festival, presented by WeDiscoverGeeks and IMAGINE Event Concepts, will feature science, engineering and technology-based attractions; maker programs and activities; video game workshops; cosplay and more, all based around a Steampunk theme. The fest will have a strong family component, with children’s workshops, art activities and more.

Among the fun and educational activities to be enjoyed are:

  • STEAM education speakers like American engineer and inventor Rube Goldberg, Philadelphia-based kinetic and industrial artist Bradley Litwin and many more.
  • Traditional Steampunk wedding for Mick Collins & Melody Reeves from Allentown 
  • Performances by Steampunk entertainers including acoustics by Alex Mahoney, Steampunk band The Eternal Frontier and more.
  • Cosplay contest and fashion show featuring authentic and traditional Steampunk fashion
  • Handmade STEAM ship made by Andrew Skrzenski that has been featured at Burning Man Festival


Other activities include a cosplay panel, hands-on workshops, seminars, education panels and demonstrations. While the festival is free to attend, some of the events will require a free ticket to enter.
