The City of Allentown Fire Department is in the market for men and women looking for a challenging career.   

The City of Allentown Civil Service Board will be accepting applications from September 3 through October 3, 2019 for the position of Firefighter.  Applications may be obtained from the Human Resources Department in City Hall or on the city’s website at https://www.allentownpa.gov/Human-Resources/Civil-Service-Employment   

Anyone applying must be at least 18 years old, a U.S. citizen and must possess a high school diploma or graduate equivalency diploma and a valid driver’s license.  

Allentown firefighters are not required to live in the city. 

There is a non-refundable application fee of $60.00 that must be returned with the application. 

Starting salary for an Allentown Firefighter is $50,064.00 per year.  The benefit package includes medical, dental and vision insurance for the officer and his or her family, and a prescription drug plan; paid vacation, personal days, funeral and sick leave; a pension plan and life insurance.
