Car enthusiasts will line the streets of Downtown Allentown this coming Saturday, September 14 from 1:30 p.m. – 4:30 p.m. in the second annual Classics & Cruisers on Hamilton event.

Classics & Cruisers on Hamilton will re-live the days when Hamilton Street in Allentown was the hub of gathering to park and show off your vehicle.  People came to Allentown from all over to gather along Hamilton Street to enjoy camaraderie and a mutual interest in cars.

“Nostalgia was in the air and on the street at last year’s inaugural event,” said Mayor Ray O’Connell.  “It was a very successful first year and the city is happy to welcome Classics & Cruisers on Hamilton back to downtown with all our partners and sponsors on board to make it even better.”

The event is presented by the City of Allentown Police Department, Department of Community & Economic Development, America On Wheels Museum, Friends of the Allentown Parks and Downtown Allentown Business Alliance.

Hamilton Street will be lined with classic and muscle cars of many makes, models, and time periods, and will be closed from 6th Street to 9th Street.

The car show will directly benefit two Allentown-based non-profits: America On Wheels Museum and Friends of the Allentown Parks.

More than 70 cars are pre-registered for the event.  Registration is $25.00 per vehicle on the day of the event, beginning at 11:00 a.m. at America on Wheels Museum at 5 N. Front Street.

Pre-event activities will take place at America On Wheels Museum between 11:00 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. with free tours of the museum and RB Collections, a car restoration facility across the street from the museum. Vehicles will then be escorted to Hamilton Street by 1:30 p.m. to stage for the main show.

Two bands will provide entertainment during the event: Late Knight Cruisers and Cunningham & Associates at the city’s band trailer stage located at Seventh & Hamilton streets.

Awards will be given to the top 25 vehicles as well as five specialty awards: Judging will be overseen by America on Wheels staff as well as RB Collections, which is also a main sponsor of the event.

Other sponsors include City Center Allentown and Alvin H. Butz, Inc.

Alcohol sales will be available at Seventh & Hamilton streets, and food is available for sale in the downtown restaurants. Queen City BBQ will also be selling tasty treats outside their restaurant.

Beginning at 4:15 p.m. cars will stage for a cruise to The Ritz, located at the Allentown Fairgrounds. Cars will be escorted by the Allentown Police Department.
