Month-long Celebration Kicks Off with First Friday Nov. 1 at Banana Factory Arts Center

BETHLEHEM, PA–Presentations by fashion photographer and educator Lindsay Adler and top entertainment portrait photographer Mary Ellen Matthews highlight the 10th Annual InVision Photo Festival this fall. In celebration of 10 years of showcasing the photographic arts, the festival has expanded to take place Nov. 1-24 at the Banana Factory Arts Center and SteelStacks, offering professional development, networking and hands-on workshops for photographers, image-based artists, creative entrepreneurs, makers and DIYers.

InVision kicks off Nov. 1 with First Friday at the Banana Factory Arts Center. From 6-9 p.m., individuals and families can create artwork, view demos, listen to artist talks and more! Three new exhibitions will be on display, and Banana Factory resident artists will highlight how they use photography as a resource in their work.

Lidsay Adler

On Nov. 16, 1 p.m., join renowned fashion photographer Lindsay Adler as she explains how concept and style help differentiate images and move your work to the next level. Based in New York City, her fashion editorials have appeared in numerous publications including Marie Claire, Elle Magazine, Harper’s Bazaar, L’Officiel and dozens more. Adler will discuss finding your own style and how to find inspiration for memorable images. The presentation is presented by Canon and is free to attend; guests must register in advance.

At 4 p.m., guests can attend a Creative Studio Lighting Workshop in Allentown with Adler to learn the most valuable lighting setups being used today using various styles and modifier setups. Tickets for the workshop are $224 for ArtsQuest Members and $249 for the public.

Mary Ellen Matthews- Edward Norton

On Nov. 17, InVision welcomes celebrity portrait and SNL photographer Mary Ellen Matthews. Matthews is a New York City based photographer known for her colorful, iconic images of every well-known personality of the age including Justin Timberlake, Tom Brady, Mick Jagger, Miley Cyrus and many more. In addition to working as the house photographer on Saturday Night Live for over 20 years, her experience includes film and television stills, publicity, advertising campaigns and rock tours. At 4 p.m., Matthews will discuss her inspirations for the creative portraits she captures for SNL, as well as equipment she uses and tips and tricks she utilizes to represent each subject’s creative personality. Tickets for her presentation are $27 for ArtsQuest Members and $30 for the public.

At 7 p.m., join Matthews in the Frank Banko Alehouse Cinemas for a presentation on SNL comedic portrait photography. She will discuss how she captures her subjects and how improv and comedy have influenced her photography. Tickets for her presentation are $27 for ArtsQuest Members and $30 for the public.
