CEDARBROOK NURSING HOME, Allentown needs volunteers to escort residents to their in-house beauty shop on Tuesdays 9am-noon. Residents love to be pampered, and your help would mean so much to them. COMMUNITY SERVICES FOR CHILDREN, INC, Allentown is looking for volunteers to coordinate collection drives for gender-neutral, cold weather items (coats, hats, mittens, scarves, etc.) for children ages 0-5, and age-appropriate, new or gently used books for 0-12 years (especially multi-lingual). COMPEER OF THE LEHIGH VALLEY, Bethlehem seeks volunteers willing to be a friend to someone in need in Lehigh and Northampton Counties. Volunteers are matched with a member who is in stable mental health recovery to spend a minimum of four hours a month engaging in activities they both enjoy (talking, walking, playing cards, etc.).   A similar program Compeer Corps is also looking for peer mentors for service members to enhance their self-esteem, reduce dependency, and create a strong/supportive environment. FRIENDS OF JOHNSTON, INC., Bethlehem seeks volunteers to help decorate for the holidays by putting up lights, making wreaths, garlands, and centerpieces on Saturday, November 30 from 10am-3pm and Sunday, December 1 from 1-3pm. Volunteers are also needed to help with Santa’s Breakfast on Sunday, December 15 from 7am-1pm. Santa’s helpers will market, secure donations and sponsorships, decorate, set-up/take-down, serve and run Santa’s workshop projects for the kids. GRACEDALE NURSING HOME, Nazareth needs volunteers to help wrap Christmas gifts that have been provided by Friends of Gracedale Foundation for their 650+ residents on Wednesday December 11, Thursday December 12, and Friday December 13 from 9am-3pm. HOLIDAY HOPE CHESTS need volunteers to donate wrapped shoeboxes filled with age appropriate items for Lehigh Valley’s children in need. Suggested gift lists are provided on our website. This program, coordinated by the Volunteer Center, is a great project for large/small groups, clubs, classes, families, and individuals. PHOEBE HEALTH CARE CENTER, Allentown-The Holidays are here and several volunteer opportunities are available: Thanksgiving Bingo – set-up/clean-up, transport residents, help play; Christmas Parties on various dates/times – set-up/clean-up, transport, help deliver presents, help open presents (if needed), serve food, and bring holiday spirit to Phoebe. THE SALVATION ARMY CHILDRENS SERVICES, Allentown is looking for a group of volunteers to create a brand-new Trauma Therapy Room for foster and adoptive children. The room could use a fresh coat of paint, furniture, decorations, and storage; must be cleaned, organized, and made warm and inviting. Bonus would be a chalkboard wall or a kid-friendly mural.
