BASD ANNOUNCES EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH LINDA PORRATA-LOPEZ | DECEMBER 2019

At the beginning of each school year, three outstanding teachers are recognized and receive the BEST Award at Convocation. The BASD marked history this school year as we started a new tradition to highlight a support staff member and present them with the title of BASD Employee of the Month.

Dr. Joseph Roy, Superintendent of Schools, surprised Linda Porrata-Lopez with the honor of being named the Bethlehem Area School District Employee of the Month for December 2019.

Linda is the Secretary to Carole Schachter the Supervisor of English Acquisition. She has been employed with the district for over 40 years. We are proud to also mention that Linda is #BuiltbyBethlehem and is a Liberty High School graduate.

Dr. Roy stated; “Linda devoted over 40 years of her life to supporting our teachers, administrators and most importantly, our students. In her current role, she welcomes families from around the globe as they relocate to Bethlehem. In addition to registering students for school, Linda serves as advisor and supporter for families who are often starting their lives anew in Bethlehem. I can only imagine the tremendous relief our immigrant parents feel when Linda welcomes them with open arms and helps them navigate their new home. Thank you Linda for making an enormous difference in the lives of our families!.”

We extend many thanks to Linda for her continued service to the district. Congratulations Linda.
