ALLENTOWN SCHOOL DISTRICT FOUNDATION needs volunteers to read to kindergartners (and some 1st graders) in classrooms across the city. Two spring training sessions are scheduled for Thursday, January 30 and Thursday, February 27 from 1:30-2:30pm at Jackson Elementary Childhood Center, 517 N. 15th St. Street parking is available. All volunteers must obtain required background clearances, and info for that will be provided at the sessions. Actual reading demonstration to a kindergartner is included in session. CAMELOT FOR CHILDREN, INC, Emmaus, is looking for healthcare professionals to volunteer a few hours for our monthly teen and children’s events on one Friday evening 6-9pm, and/or one Sunday afternoon 12noon – 3pm a month. CEDARBROOK SENIOR CARE AND REHAB, Fountain Hill is looking for volunteers to come and help their residents enjoy a Super Bowl Party, Sunday, February 2 from 5:35-9pm. Escort residents (pushing wheelchairs, as needed) to main activity room to watch the game on a huge screen, help staff serve light snacks, and escort residents back to their rooms after the game. LEHIGH COUNTY SPECIAL OLYMPICS needs aSign language interpreter for one hour with one athlete on Wednesday evenings from now until mid-May from 6:45 pm to 7:45 pm for the Lehigh County Special Olympics’ swimming program practices held at the Rodale Aquatic Center at Cedar Crest College. LEHIGH VALLEY HOSPITAL-CEDAR CREST AND MUHLENBERG, are looking for FRIENDLY and COMPASSIONATE people to volunteer in our beautiful gift shops. Must possess great customer service skills and be available to volunteer one four-hour shift per week. Evening and weekend shifts are most needed, however day shifts may be open as well. MEALS ON WHEELS OF THE GREATER LEHIGH VALLEY – Many of our volunteers are headed south for warmer weather, so we need drivers and visitors in both Lehigh and Northampton Counties. Mostly Allentown and Whitehall routes are available, and mostly Easton openings with some Bethlehem routes as well.  Volunteers can help on a regular or substitute basis – we need both! THE PERFECT FIT FOR WORKING WOMEN, Allentown is looking for fashion-savvy volunteers to serve as volunteer retail and stock associates in their resale boutique. Volunteers will greet clients, customers, and donors; receive, sort, tag, and hang clothing donations; assist customers with selections, and perform light housekeeping duties, as necessary. THE SALVATION ARMY FOSTER CARE & ADOPTION SERVICES, Allentown is looking for 1-2 long-term volunteers (age 18+) to help on a weekly basis with various clerical duties. Training and support will be provided. Main duties include: filing confidential foster care documents, data entry, and answering phones. Strong computer and communication skills a plus!
