AMERICAN RED CROSS, Allentown is looking for volunteers to help Sound the Alarm on Saturday, April 25, 2020 as they work alongside local fire department personnel, community leaders, and members of the public distributing and installing free smoke alarms, sharing critical fire-safety tips, and helping to save lives!  Equipment, supplies & training provided along with breakfast and lunch.  For details, call Ned Bloom at 484-403-4721, ned.bloom@redcross.org.

 

BETHLEHEM SPECIAL OLYMPICS is calling for athletes of all skill levels to work with Special Olympics softball athletes at weekly practices and competitions from February through June. LEHIGH COUNTY COURT-APPOINTED SPECIAL ADVOCATES, Allentown is seeking dedicated volunteers to be court appointed advocates for children in foster care due to abuse, neglect and/or trauma.  These volunteers will be the “eyes and ears” of the Judge and advocate for the best interests of the child in court, visit the child at home/placement, monitor how the child is doing in school, observe parental visitations, and be in regular contact with the child.  Call CASA 610-782-3858, CASA@lehighcounty.org.

 

LEHIGH VALLEY HOSPICE is looking for volunteers to offer extra comfort by sewing Comfort Bears, neck pillows and small pillows. Also needed are folks to knit or crochet comfort shawls and lap blankets for hospice patients. If you enjoy sewing, knitting, or crocheting, join our creative team. You do not have to be a ‘formal’ volunteer to create these much-needed items.  Materials for bears are supplied by Lehigh Valley Hospice. NORTHEAST COMMUNITY CENTER, Bethlehem is looking for a volunteer Softball/Baseball instructor to
lead and introduce children grades 1-12 in learning the fundamentals, sportsmanship, and commitment to play on a softball/baseball team.  The program will run late afternoon/early evening for six weeks during the months of April/May; exact dates to be determined based on instructor availability.  Team will practice one hour per week.  Call Jackie Jimenez, 610-691-3355, jimenezj@neccbethlehem.org.

 

SPIRITTRUST LUTHERAN HOME CARE & HOSPICE, Allentown needs help in our office weekdays 8am – 4pm to enter hospice visits & bereavement calls into the client chart. THE PERFECT FIT FOR WORKING WOMEN, Allentown needs fun, fashionable, and caring women to serve as personal shoppers for clients of our Perfect Fit for Working Women program and as volunteer retail associates in our Perfect Fit Resale Boutique. Volunteers will greet clients, customers, and donors, receive, sort, tag, and hang clothing donations, assist clients or customers with clothing selections, and perform light housekeeping duties as necessary.
